G150 Scrapbook

Become a Part of the Garnett 150 Scrapbook
DEADLINE:  September 1, 2011

"We encourages all businesses to use this opportunity to show off your business.  Be as creative and informative as possible, giving information such as, when your business began, who started the business, the employees past and present, and don’t forget… pictures, pictures, pictures!  This project is also an open invitation to churches, civic organizations and families.  Please note not to use original photos as they will not be returned.  The scrapbook will be locked away, not to be accessible for 50 years." - Cecilia Lamb, project chairman

GARNETT:  As part of the Garnett Sesquicentennial (150th) Celebration in 2011, the Garnett Tourism Committee would like the community to help create a scrapbook of Garnett.  The scrapbook will be locked in a time capsule (location TBD) to be reopened in 2061.

Businesses, churches, civic organizations and families are welcome to create two (2) 12”x 12” scrapbook pages to be inserted into this historical book.  Page paper can be picked up at the Garnett City Hall, 131 W. 5th Avenue, during regular business hours (9-2), or you may use your own paper but the size must be 12”x12”.  The committee asks that scrapbook pages be submitted to the City of Garnett no later than SEPTEMBER 1, 2011.

Pictures representing both the past and present of Garnett are welcome.  Please identify persons in photos.  The more information you can provide the better.  Feel free to be creative and customize your pages with photos, colored borders, etc. Use these pages to convey to future viewers what your business, church or club was like back in the day.  “I Remember When…”story text can be included.

Again, the deadline is SEPTEMBER 1, 2011 to participate.  The pages will be scanned into a DVD that will be available to the public for purchase.  Proceeds will help defray expenses of the Garnett 150 celebration in 2011, including the time capsule.
